We have several maple trees which were started from seed by Matthew's brother, Nate. A couple of them are still in pots awaiting permanent placement in our yard, so last Saturday, Matthew decided that we would plant one in honor of our dear sweet daughter, and call it the Amelia tree. We still don't have grass in the back yet, so it was the perfect time to plant it. Of course, Amelia wanted to help, after all this is her tree.
She started out by helping daddy dig the hole for the tree.
Little by little, the hole got bigger and bigger,
She even helped to bring the tree into the back yard from the front.
Daddy made sure that the hole for the maple had lots of water.
Amelia supervised.
Once the tree was placed in the hole...
...Amelia helped to fill the dirt in around the tree.
It was a beautiful, sunny morning.
It didn't take long before the tree was securely planted in the ground.

Daddy used a stake to help support the maple as it grows.

Next, it was time for more water,

Much to her delight, Amelia even got to do it without help.

A job well done...

...and a content little girl sitting on the back step.

We are looking forward to watching the tree grow as Amelia does!

What a great idea!!! Those pictures are so beautiful.
Glad you captured that special event on film. She sure seems to enjoy the "outside". Daddy's little helper!
She seems to like the outdoors and to help her daddy. What precious moments these are.
