Every Little Girl Needs Her Daddy

Fatherhood is something that has come naturally to Matthew. I have found myself falling even more in love with him as I have watched him become the most doting dad I could ever imagine. He takes such good care of both his little girl Amelia and I. He changes most of the diapers and holds her in the early hours of the morning so that I can get more rest, he takes care of the housework and is constantly refilling my water bottle and making sure that I have everything I need. There are no words that can explain how truly thankful I am for him and his love.

Following are some of the photo's of him and his little girl taken during the past few days.

Daddy rocks his little girl to sleep in the hospital rocking chair.

Whilst snuggling up together on the couch, daddy gives Amelia a little kiss, he is so in love.

Bringing our Daughter Home

The past week has passed by so quickly and yesterday, after being taken such good care of at the hospital, it was time for Matthew and I to bring our daughter Amelia home, hooray! So yesterday afternoon, after checkups from the OB's, Pediatrician, Lactation Consultant and nurses we packed up our belongings and headed home. Words cannot express how much joy this little bundle has already brought into our lives, each day is more wonderful than the day before and we just cannot believe how blessed we are to have her.

Following are more photo's of her in just the past couple of days.

Amelia Arrives

The great day of Amelia Elizabeth Rawe's arrival finally came last Wednesday, October 17, 2007. She was born at 4:18am, weighed 7lbs 14oz and was 21 1/2 inches long. Here are some photographs of her just moments after she was born.

The Waiting Game

Just 2 1/2 days away from our due date and the time seems to be ticking by oh so slowly now. Our next Dr's appointment is on Tuesday, October 16 (our due date) and I wonder if we will make it to that or not. Matthew is being very supportive, walking with me and he even painted my toe nails - what a husband, he cannot wait to meet our little one either. Last night, he placed his hand on my tummy and our baby just kept rolling around underneath it, quite a spooky thing, but awesome and amazing to watch. She must be getting pretty cramped in there by now though.

As much as I am not looking forward to the labor, I am so excited to meet our precious gift and hold her in my arms. My plan is to get as much rest as possible in the next couple of days, after all, who knows when I will get more than 2 hours sleep at a time after our little bundle arrives.

'Congratulations' to my brother and sister-in-law who welcomed a baby boy into their family yesterday, Brody weighed 8lbs 13 oz and was 20 inches long, a new baby brother for Jacob and Nicole.

Well, keep checking in with us and who knows, the next post may just be of our little one!

One Week and Counting...

I can hardly believe that we are only a week away from our baby's due date, Of course, I am feeling every emotion possible, from the greatest excitement to meet our 'little bundle', to fear and anxiety of parenthood. Matthew has been a rock throughout our whole pregnancy and he can hardly stand to wait any longer. Last night I felt a couple of small pains in my tummy and Matthew's eyes sparkled at the thought that these may be contractions and it might be time. Alas, to his disappointment, they were not and today he still anticipates the great moment of meeting his daughter. I cannot wait to see him as a father, I just know he is going to be the best!

This past few days I have generally felt pretty good, I am still working and have lots of shelves and steps under my desk that I can put my feet up on. Recently, they no longer resemble feet but water balloons and my ankles, well, what ankles? This has been quite amusing to my dear husband though who has become quite obsessed with pressing his fingers into the swollen skin and making dimples by my toes.

I have so many thoughts and questions that I am sure every new parent thinks about, like 'what will our baby look like, will she be healthy, will she indeed be a 'she' or will we be changing the decor in our nursery to blue, will I be able to handle labor and delivery, will it be today, tomorrow, next week or even later, will I be a good mother?'

So, for now, we are just playing the waiting game, eagerly awaiting the experience and gift of a lifetime that will change our family forever, but overall I can't help thinking about how truly blessed we are.

Welcome To Our Blog

Well, we are finally online and ready to start 'blogging'. It has been fun visiting sites belonging to our other family members and friends and and since our family is located around the globe we thought it would be a great media for us to share both the ordinary and special events in our lives. We hope that you will check in with us often and somehow be able to feel like there's not so many miles between us. Don't forget to leave us comments so we can hear back from you too!

With Love,

Matthew and Heidi
