Happy 60th Birthday Mum!

To start with today, I need to shout out "Happy Birthday" to my wonderful mum, she turned the big 60 today and looks as gorgeous as ever (as you can see by the photo above taken last December). I cannot wait to see her in just a few weeks so we can celebrate together.

It's amazing how we are just running through this year, I know I keep saying that and maybe it's because having Amelia is a huge reminder of how quickly time passes by. This week we hit a couple more milestones. Amelia waved for the first time on Thursday. Then last night she slept in her crib in her own room for the first time. She had been sleeping in her pack and play which has a bassinet, since she was born, it is in our room and I have to admit, I liked her being so close to me, also, her bedroom is on the other side of the house. Anyway, I finally decided to give it a try, after all her matress has to be more comfortable than the one in the pack and play. So, we lowered the crib mattress and plugged in the monitors so that we could hear her if she fussed. I needn't have worried, she slept all night without a peep, in fact I had to go in and wake her this morning. Of course I woke up in the night and listened to the monitor for a while.

We also bought some new toys for Amelia, so far she just wants to chew on them but I'm sure it won't be long before she knows how to put the shapes in the bucket and rings on the pole.

Below are just a few photo's taken over this weekend, enjoy!

Here's a glimpse of her new wave!

Almost standing by herself!

Contemplating the view from her crib.

This started as a wave and turned into "pick me up".

Sweet baby girl, as you can see by the rosy cheeks it has been very hot this weekend!

Bye for now!

What's New?

Today's post is just a mix of cute photo's and news over the past week or so...Enjoy!

I wanted to capture the scale of Amelia's tiny foot against my hand, I think it turned out pretty good.

Summer styles!

Her eyes are a little bit red in the photo above since she had just had a fussy moment, but as you can see recovered quickly for her photo shoot.

Beautiful in blue.

It wouldn't be right if I didn't mention one of the best things that happened last week...a championship win for the Boston Celtics Basketball Team, in fact it wasn't just a win, they 'smoked' The Lakers. 17 was the number of the day, it was the 17th Championship, won on the 17th of June, which just happened to be the day Amelia turned 8 months (can you even believe it?) As you can see, Matthew was very excited since this is 'his team'. Go Celtics!

Well, that's about if for now, have a lovely day everyone and check back soon!

Father's Day - A First For Matthew

What a beautiful day to celebrate fathers everywhere, especially my father and of course my husband, Matthew, who celebrated his first Father's Day as a daddy.

I got up extra early so that I could make him eggs and toast for breakfast, then we opened presents. He received a gift certificate for a 60 minute Swedish Massage, (everybody needs a little pampering now and then) and a tie, conservative pattern as he likes, but nice (see below). As an extra surprise, I found a cute little hat for Amelia, 'I love daddy' was embroidered on the front of it, she wore it for church and looked adorable, 'daddy's girl'.

After church, it was time for daddy to have some well deserved rest and relaxation whilst I made lunch. Later his dad came over for dinner, it was nice to spend time together and since Matthew's mum is in Texas right now, we just couldn't let him be on his own for Father' Day.

This photograph was taken a couple of weeks ago in a dress that Matthew picked out for Amelia, he has very good taste and Amelia just looked beautiful in it, as you can see...

Matthew is a wonderful dad and I am so grateful that he is my eternal companion. He loves his daughter so much and always helps with diaper changes, feedings, etc. He is fun and loving and since we had our daughter, I love him even more.

On another note, it wouldn't be right if I didn't mention my father. I called him today, it's hard being so far away, but we usually talk each week so I am still very close to him, I only wish I could have given him a big hug, I cannot wait until September when we will visit England, it will be so much fun to see him again, and especially to introduce him to his new grandaughter. He is a wonderful dad and I love him so very much.

Happy Father's Day!

The Future's So Bright, I've Gotta Wear Shades...

I have been looking for some sunglasses for Amelia, mainly for when she is in the back of the car and the sun shines directly on her face, so when I found these, I thought they'd be perfect, however, when I got them home and tried them on, I realize she takes after her dad with regards to the size of her nose, it is tiny and therefore, the sunglasses don't stay on, oh well, perhaps they'll work as she gets older.

Grandma and Grandpa Rawe bought this lovely dress, I just love the smocking, I love the shoes too - they finally fit her!

Grandpa Rawe came over to have dinner with us on Sunday, as you can see Amelia loved having him around and fell asleep in his arms.

Here is our sweetpea all comfy and casual, so pretty!

It's The Simple Things!

One of the joys of having a baby is seeing the world through their eyes. Who knew that blowing kisses to somebody would make them wrinkle their nose and giggle with delight. that singing 'row, row, row your boat' could be so exciting, and who knew that there was nothing more fun than lying on the floor playing hand games. Amelia is teaching me what life is all about, of course it's about the simple things. Following are some photo's of her just enjoying life.

She loves to hang out with her toys these days, and especially enjoys chewing on them.

Trying to grab daddy's hands is a ton of fun.

Simple, sweet and adorable!

This chair was custom built, but obviously not for Amelia. This photograph reminds me of Goldilocks and the Three Bears..."Who's been sitting in daddy's chair?

Bye for now!

Amelia's First Piano Recital

You're never too young to discover your talents. Here's Amelia at her first piano recital at just seven and a half months. She seemed intrigued and amused at the sounds that she heard after pressing the notes. I love how her litle feet barely reach the edge of the piano stool. Who knows what the future holds, maybe she'll be a musician.
